Burberry Beauty Review: Nude Rose Lipstick, Midnight Brown Eye Shadow, Sheer Foundation And More

As promised, I am going to review for you one of my new favourite beauty lines: Burberry Beauty. I confess that when I first heard they were going to launch a beauty line (in 2010), I was very excited. As you are about to read in my detailed review below, I am very impressed. Burberry's guarantee for high quality products and their uncompromising standards are reflected in the beauty line, which turned out to be everything I expected and more. It perfectly matches my taste in makeup and I love everything about it: the textures, the packaging, the colour range. I have been testing these products for about 3 weeks to be able to give you an accurate review and a comprehensive look and feel of the line.

Let's start with the packaging: it is beautiful and unique. Heavy and very luxurious, it has the Burberry check print all over it, which I love. Modern and chic. Not only is it wonderful to look at, but it is also very secure. The lipsticks, for instance, come in a case with magnetic closure, so you can safely carry them in your bag, they will stay closed.

The Sheer Luminous Fluid Foundation gives a beautiful glow, natural finish, light to medium coverage and that is exactly what I want in a foundation. It is sheer, but extremely buildable and easy to wear, thanks to the lightweight formula. You can build to almost full coverage if you want to, and it will still look lovely and natural. It is very long lasting, it doesn't separate and it performs well in the summer heat too. I have normal to dry skin and this foundation is perfect for me. I highly recommend it if you want a radiant, natural looking, light to medium foundation that feels very comfortable on the skin. It is creamy and smooth, with a very nice consistency and it comes in a 30 ml bottle with a pump dispenser and a locking mechanism, which makes it great and safe for travelling. A single pump gives me enough product for my entire face. The foundation pictured below is Trench No.5, a warm, yellow-toned shade.

The Warm Glow Natural Bronzer is smooth, pigmented and finely milled. It has a silky texture, luxurious feel and gives a satin finish. Again, a very buildable product that blends effortlessly. It is embossed with the Burberry check pattern and it comes in a beautiful metallic case, inside a black velvet pouch. The one I tested is Copper Glow No.2, which gave me a natural, sun-kissed look.

On to the eye products. The Sheer Eye Shadow in Midnight Brown (no.21) is a new addition to the line, part of the Autumn/Winter 2011 Collection. It is a gorgeous, multidimensional, complex shade, a deep brown, with a slight hint of shimmer to it and it has various undertones, depending on the lighting: I can detect taupe, gold and green undertones, even a 'barely there' touch of red, it is amazing. It is nicely pigmented, easy to apply and blend, it adheres well to skin and it doesn't crumble. The texture is beautiful, it feels incredibly smooth and soft and just like the other products, it is versatile and buildable, so you can use it to create a light, nude look as well as a more dramatic one. The lasting power is excellent. The eye shadows come in the trademark Burberry metallic check case, with a black velvet pouch, just like the bronzers, and are also embossed with the check pattern.

Burberry Volumising Lash Enhancer Effortless Mascara is a perfectly wearable, silky black, waterproof mascara, which gives a natural, sophisticated look and beautiful definition. It provides length and volume, it is not clumpy, and the lasting power is very good. The one I have is Midnight Black (No.1), pictured below. There are also 2 new additions to the line, the shades Midnight Brown No.2 and Midnight Blonde No.3, part of the Autumn/Winter 2011 Collection.

The Lip Definer Pencil is soft, creamy and pigmented and gives a natural finish. It glides smoothly and blends easily. The packaging is very nice, it comes with a metallic cap and a pencil sharpener, pictured above. (No.7 Rosewood)

The Lip Cover Soft Satin Lipstick in Nude Rose (No.25) is a new shade, from the Autumn/Winter 2011 Collection and it is a lovely, neutral rose-peach colour. I absolutely love the luxurious feel of this lipstick, the formula and the texture. It is nicely pigmented, creamy and moisturizing, but lightweight at the same time and it gives a beautiful satin finish. It applies very smoothly and the result is a natural, polished look. My lips tend to be dry and this lipstick is very hydrating and comfortable to wear. Highly recommended. It comes in the same metallic case engraved with the Burberry check and the lid has magnetic closure.

Burberry Beauty is an exquisite line, chic, luxurious and very wearable. I fell in love with the sheer textures and the refined shades, the natural finish of the products and the beautiful packaging. The colour palette is natural, elegant, very flattering. Everything performs brilliantly and looks great in any kind of light. I absolutely enjoyed wearing these products and I will definitely add more to my makeup collection. The entire line focuses on an effortless natural beauty and the quality of the textures, the colours and the packaging is outstanding. Creating a beautiful, flawless look has never been easier.
