I think Boyle went as far as he should have, maybe any step further than that would have taken it into a cliche or cheesy territory. And to answer your question, a lot of people haven't seen it and refuse to. I am not sure it strikes a universal chord in the sense that many people would do the same thing. You'd be surprised how many people would NOT do what Ralston did in order to survive. I admit I wouldn't. Physically, I would not be able to.Smarandahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08901178444702857780noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5981357252757966936.post-58498205466324882662011-01-13T19:55:30.630+02:002011-01-13T19:55:30.630+02:00I enjoyed 127 Hours, but my problem comes from the...I enjoyed 127 Hours, but my problem comes from the fact that I just don't think it's really all that deep. The movie does what it can with a limited story. "A guy is trapped for five days with limited food and water, eventually cutting his own arm off in the hopes of surviving". It's very on the surface. Boyle attempts to bring it deeper than that, but it doesn't go much deeper much of the time. The point that really got to me was Ralston's need to survive. It connects with the audience because it strikes a universal chord: who wouldn't do what Ralston did in order to survive? And I think the film works because of Franco's performance more than anything else.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
